Tablescape Thursday...and a sad, day!

Welcome to Tablescape Thursday!
This wonderful event is hosted by our friend, Susan at
Please stop by Susan's site. Not only does she amaze us with her creative tablescapes, but her blog is beautiful, as well.
Best of all - there is a full list of of all the Tablescape participants.
Before I share my tablescape...I just wanna share that my heart is heavy today.
We had to put our dear Miss Prissy to sleep.
She was our diabetic cat and she went into renal about midday.
I held her all the way to the vet, and all the way back home.
We buried her under her favorite tree. I miss her so much, but she was suffering and I know she is better off. Rest in Peace, my sweet baby girl.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Sunday is Mother's Day. I dedicate this tablescape to all the Mothers, Stepmothers,
Grandmothers and Mother Figures...and even Mother's of Furr Babies.
May you feel the love of your family on this special day.
Mother's Day Tea Menu
Curried Shrimp Salad Tea Sandwiches
Turkey BLT's w/ Pesto Mayo
Chocolate-Mocha "Cupoleans" with Raspberry Cream
Chocolate Caramel Truffles
Lace Cookies
Drunken Raspberry Skewers

Earl Grey Tea
Cranberry-Lemon Tea

I used a pretty yellow tablecloth dotted with a floralscape of pink and red roses.
I then used an overlay of silk plaid in fuscia, buttercream yellow and sage.

Remember the plate I featured yesterday for
What's on Your Wall Wednesday?
Here it is again with an appropriate message for the occasion.

I am actually using a teapot and a chocolate pot. They are both Bavarian.
This is part of the myriad of teapots/cups I collected when we lived in Europe.
I had dreams of returning to the States and opening a Tea Room, so I collected
boxes and boxes of dishes.
Maybe one day.....

I wanted the floral arrangement to look and feel like I had just come from the garden with an armload of flowers....peonies and hydrangeas. My favorites.

mmmm....Chocolate Caramel truffles arranged on a petite pink and white transferware dish.

Crystal beading and sheer pink ribbon reflect the beautiful Carolina sunshine cascading in through the window. The raspberry tart just glistens.

Instead of a sugar dish, I decided to use a small, crystal petit four dish.
Sugared raspberries add color, and a small, silver tea spoon is used for serving.

Turkey BLT's with Pesto Mayo

A tiered plate stand is decorated with ivy and peonies. Peony leaves surround pink rose plates which hold (upper tier) Turkey BLT's and (lower level) Curried Shrimp Salad.

Do you know what this pink depressionware piece is?
It's a cigarette holder. LOL
I think it works much better holding the silver tea spoons.

Pink and green...what a delight.

Drunken Raspberry Mini Skewers served in a vintage
hobnail creamer.

Lemon wedges and silver sugar tongs...

I used embossed fruit plates and creamy yellow napkins.

My vintage silver tea cake stand holds a raspberry tart and chocolate lace cookies.

I tried to create interesting layers so the eye would not know where to look next. :-)

Peonies and pink hydrangeas....

The china cups are from the set we inherited from Mr Grits' mother.
Noritake Joaquin.

Pink pillars rest upon white porcelain tea bag holders. Inexpensive silver mini-frames
are used to label the teas.

Yellow with accents of pink.... perfection.
(I found this just a few days ago at Marshall's by the way)
Vintage silver tongs tied with a pink French ribbon bow....
Chocolate-Mocha "Cupoleans" with Raspberry Cream
What exactly is a "Cupolean?"
It's my version of a cross between a "cup"cake and a nap"olean."
I will share this easy dessert for Foodie Friday.

I hope you have enjoyed my Mother's Day Tea.

Please join me next Tuesday (and every Tuesday) for

Tea Time Tuesday.

Many Blessings to all of our Mothers....Barb

  6. I'm so sorry about your kitty. They are truly family members, and we love them so very much. Have you ever heard of the poem "Rainbow Bridge"? If not, I'll send it to you.

As usual, your tea and tablescape are delightful. How do you come up with all this???!!!!

  7. Absolutely beautiful tablescape..I'd love to come and have tea at your house. Question for you? You mentioned peonies and pink hydrangeas, which looks more like a pink dogwood blossom then the hydrangeas. Are they silk flowers? You really have a knack for decorating. Thanks for sharing.

  8. Barb = Each picture is more beautiful than the next. This is unbelievable!! Yeah for the chocolate the peonies. I hope you always continue to blog. I would really miss your posts.

  13. Anon - yes they are silk, and yes they are hydrangeas. But I do see why they look like dogwood blossoms.

P.S. I am so sorry to hear about your kitty. I remember as a child having to put one of our kitty's to sleep & the big burly man next door cried (He was the type that no one would ever suspect of crying over the death of a cat). I'll never forget it or my cat. So I feel your pain.
