Met Monday!

Welcome to Metamorphosis Monday. This fun "Before and After" event is hosted by our friend, Susan at Between Naps on the Porch.

Please stop by Susan's blog and get a full list of all Met Monday participants.

There are several areas of my home that have perplexed me. No matter what I did to tweak these spaces - they just didn't look good or feel right. A wall in my breakfast area is just one of these spaces.

I think if you looked in Webster's dictionary under the word BORING! - you would see this pic.

I love the distressed, black painted plate rack...and I love the vintage, English prints...I even loved the items on the plate rack - just not collectively. It needed a change! And BAD!

During my memorable trip to Asheville with Kathysue (Rate My Space and Micassa) and Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict - I stumbled upon these two small paintings at one of the Goodwills we ventured into.

I love the rustic, Frenchy feel of them. But, I hated those boring frames. What was more important - I started visualizing that these two paintings just might work in my boring, blah kitchen space.

Enter Mr. Spray Paint in a lovely shade of Satin Black. Mr. Black Spray Paint is so darn sexy!

By the way - can you see the price tags? (why they thought three tags was needed I am not sure.) Three bucks each! Yoohoo
Also, remember the black and white Toile plates I showcased in Paula Deen's store? Well....picture the two prints with four of those plates.....and you get.....

This! Much better huh? I added my homemade white, Eiffel tower pitcher filled with flowers and another red stoneware jug. I also added a small, black and white "Milk" pitcher I recently found at Marshall's - clearanced for $2.99.

Can I tell you how much I am loving these plates? Seen above are the bunny and baby lamb plates.

And my fave two....the hen and pig plates.

Finally, I added the tea towel I also purchased at Paula's store...I heart this!
The black and white striped towels are finds from the Dollar Store.

I am quite happy with this wall vignette for now. I may play around with some different plates - but I am definitely going to call Webster's tomorrow and request that they remove that pic from the dictionary beside the word "boring." :-)

Don't forget this Wednesday is the monthly edition of What's On Your Wall Wednesday. I have some new plates I will be sharing. I look forward to seeing what wonderful Wallscapes and treasures you have to share. Mr. Linky will be up by 9pm on Tuesday night.
Have a Wonderful Week Dear Friends.....Barb

  4. Barb it looks amazing! My plate rack needs a little spiffing up too. After painting awhile back I didn't put everything back. You've given me some good ideas. I really like the towels at the bottom. There's a gift shop in my town that sells those toile plates. They are on my wish list too.
