Tabletops Tuesdays!!!
Do you love to create and look at beautiful vignettes as much as I do? I think tabletop vignettes and displays are the “jewelry” on your home’s little black dress.
Okay, I will admit it. I love adding layer upon layer until the tabletop is virtually bursting with accessorized goodness.
So, whether you like things a la Charles Faudre style, or your design sense screams that less is more….I welcome you to join
Tabletops Tuesday
and show off your favorite vignette or display.
Inside your home, outside in your garden, heck – maybe its in your car.
(what? I have an amazing display of Bojangle’s Sweet Tea cups in my floorboard right now) *wink*
I’m gonna give McLinky (Mr Linky’s Scottish cousin) a try this time around. It seems more user-friendly. He will be up and running on Monday nights by 9pm.
Please do not add your link until your post is up and running.
You can grab the large button at top….or here is a smaller version.
You are also welcomed to add this button to your sidebar to announce to your bloggy followers that you are participating.
I look forward to seeing your posts. If you have any trouble posting your link, please email me or Facebook me (Grits and Glamour), and I will help you out.
I am also participating in Rhoda’s Top Projects of 2009, at Southern Hospitality.
While it did not seem that I was able to accomplish that much because of my busy work schedule, when I made a list I realized that I, Or should I say “we” – actually completed more projects than I first thought. Some larger, some smaller in scale.
Here are pics of the major ones….
Project #1…Front Porch Revamp
Mr Grits and I, after 5 long years, finally revamped our front porch by removing chunky wood columns and adding rails and a few unusual accessories. (see side bar for link to this post)
.We painted the front door red and the sidelights a crisp white…and added urns and topiaries.
We love the artwork on the brick wall. I am asked all the time if this print gets damaged by the elements. The answer is no. The porch has enough overhang that it is protected, and trust me – here in the South this past year, we have had our fair share of torrential downpours. It has survived beautifully.
It now provides us with the perfect night time “room” during the seasonal months.
Project #2 … The Family Room & English Pub
We bought new furniture, rugs, accessories – and had custom window treatments made for our Family Room and English Pub.
We also added some accent color, which allowed me to create my beloved Family Wall. I promise to share more of the English Pub area later…still working on that “project.” 🙂
Project #3…Painted Kitchen Cabinets Red
I won’t bore you with a lot of details here since I just recently featured this space as part of my Christmas Open House (see side button)….but I just love my new kitchen.
We expanded the island and added black granite!
Hopefully, the 2010 issue next year will say that we replaced all the appliances.
I added moulding on the soffits above the cabinets, removed the middle cabinet section for a “nook” and added beadboarding to the island and backsplash.
The beadboard is currently glazed in green which matched the color that the cabinets were previously painted before they went red. I am gonna be painting it back to crisp white, but loved the effect of the red and green during Christmas. 🙂
We also installed a hand-hammered Mexican copper sink and new faucet. The oak countertops you see here will soon be replaced with carerra marble. Can’t wait! Another 2010 project. eek!
Project #4…Guest Bath Makeover
Again, I just featured this room….but this was a major project for me and I am glad to be done…well …almost. 🙂
And my “favoritest”, most “importantest” project for 2009…..?
Welcoming my second grandson to the world….
Devin Blake Russell, born October 29th, 2009
Making me the very proud Grammy of two darling grandbabies.
I am blessed.
So those are some of the projects Mr Grits and I managed to accomplish during 2009. Thanks for joining me on this small look back. I look forward to (hopefully) sharing lots more projects with you this coming year….as well as, seeing all your projects, too.
Please hop over to Southern Hospitality to see more Top Projects of 2009.
Next Tuesday will be the Premiere Issue of
Tabletops Tuesdays….
mark your calenders and I hope to see you then!!!!
Have a Blessed Week….Barb

Oh this sounds fun. I’m sure I will join in but will need a week or two before I can do so. I’m in the middle of to many things right now.
I’ll be back to see everyone’s post though. This sould be good.
Oh and I adore your bathroom make over. Loved how you used things not normally found in a bathroom.
Also, I have the same towels as you (great minds think alike!)

You – single handedly are making me want to go find another project. Well I am working on my dining room now. But…I just painted over the red and now I’m seeing your red and wondering…Yikes! I do think I was ready for the change. 🙂
Your projects are amazing. That kitchen is to die for. I love the family photo area and would like to do something similar. Of course, the baby is perfect.
I will be taking the new meme. My tendency is to leave things the same too long. This will help me move around more.

Forgot to tell you that your grandsons are just adorable! Love that picture of the two of them with the Santa outfit on the baby. I’m amazed at how smart you are to think of yet another weekly event to host. I’ve been racking my brain for months to try to come up with something somebody else isn’t already doing, and when I saw this idea, I felt like the commercial “Wow! I could have had a V8”! laurie
