Usually, I dread having to take down the Christmas
decorations. I am always putting them off as long as I can.
Not because I dread the process (okay, who am I kidding –
that’s part of the reason, too)…
but mostly because I love how warm and
cozy our house appears.
But this year is different. I am chomping at the bit to
get started on some decorating projects.
I have been putting off some sewing projects for
some time. I have some beautiful French-Country
fabric that I bought TWO years ago. (that’s so sad, huh!)
I thought I would post a few pics I saved from a link
I found. Ideas abound in these rooms.
Wanna see some of the rooms that speak to me?
Love the wide array of smaller prints above the
fireplace, in lieu of a larger piece of artwork.
A great mix of fabrics…and my eyes went straight
to the cute, little chandy shades.
All white really is hard to beat.
So English! I have noticed a new style trend
of using antlers.
Wood beams, a wrought-iron chandy and an
equestrian print. Oh my!
Yellow! Things that make me say mmmm….
This is how I will decorate my new Mountain
Retreat…when I actually get a new
Mountain Retreat.
(Hint, HINT Mr Grits!!!)
How can you go wrong with blue and white plates.
Love the white steamer.
Love the side chair painted white with toile upholstery.
Miss Muffett would feel right at home sitting atop
this gingham-skirted “Tuffett.”
A pink painted china cabinet. Brave choice.
My sweet daughter-in-law would swoon.
And now for my fave…
Have you ever ran across a pic of a room…totally
not the style of your home…but it just spoke to you?
This pic did just that. No idea why really!
Maybe it’s that longing for the elusive Mountain Retreat
(see above reference, in case it slipped your mind –
kinda like Mr. Grits).
Love the color combination and the stone fireplace.
A dreamy place to sit and read a book….or gaze
out at the mountains. 🙂
I hope you enjoyed this little journey through
my inspiration files….
Here’s Wishing You Have a Wonderful “Journey” Through 2011…Love, Barb

Hey Barb, thanks for stopping by. I love your inspiration rooms. The second is my favorite. I realy love the tray celings and all the windows. My daughter is only 17 and just graduated from Jacksonvill High. She works down town at a law firm as a runner. Maybe she was in your office. Thanks again. Peggy

I loved the pics…..our home is so small and aged (if you will) that we’re pretty much stuck in time, I feel. And not having a creative/artistic bone in my body…It’ll probably stay that way too! :o)

Happy New Year Barb! Well, let me see, if I had to choose, and I wish I could and just wave a magic wand and it would appear – I would vote for the very first pic. The reds “speak to me”, and I love the mix of patterns. They are cozy, comforting and familiar. The turned French leg of the coffee table is a winner in my book -lending just that touch of formality. I can’t wait to see which you choose to use as your inspiration – they are all beautiful. Enjoy!

I’ve just found your site and noticed you don’t have an email subscription option. Would you please consider adding one?
I don’t have time to read email and then bounce to readers.
My only child is serving his fourth tour in theater. He is due home in February. I am praying that your son and DIL will be home soon safe and sound.
Happy New Year!

Barb these all have touches of your home in them. They are just a bit lighter than what you have going on. I love your home and having been in it, I can say it is as warm and welcoming as the people that live there, Love you,Kathysue
