Easter Parade in Paisley and Pink!

If I were honest with myself (and you) -
the title of this blog would be
Tablescape Gone Wrong!

or, maybe -
The Art of Compromise Tablescape.

But, Easter Parade in Paisley and Pink
sounds so much prettier, huh? :)

Folks, its been a long time since I tablescaped.
I remembered the excitement and thrill of the plan and then
finally to start executing that plan.
Polishing the silver, shining the stemware,
pulling out all the plates.

But, my "mental plan" was NOWHERE near my
"executed" plan.
The plates I had envisioned were too large.
I was missing one of the six chargers I wanted to use.
The flowers I envisioned could not be found. (white tulips)

So, I went with the flow,  and started pulling from here and there.
Instead of
"Khaki Paisley with White and a Hint of Pink" -
I present to you....
"A Girly Explosion of Pink with a
Hint of White!"

:)

This Tablescape journey started out with the purchase
of a $14.99 tablecloth I fell in love with at Marshall's.
It was Khaki and White and could not possibly
be more beautiful paired with my new checked chairs.

That got the design wheels turning in my mind.
I imagined my black and white toile Bunny plates
with my pink and white Staffordshire plates.

Long blog post short -
I ended up using some older pink ruffled dishes
which I forgot I even had.  :)

I placed the ruffled pink bowl and salad plate on a
pink and white Staffordshire plate, using a large
Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage plate as a base.
(wouldn't it be funny to know how many Bloggers own these cabbage plates?)  :)

But, one of the things I Iove the most are the new chargers
that I found at Pier1.

Look at these beauties!
I refuse to spend a lot of money on any one item for a specific
Tablescape, but I knew when I saw these they were coming
home with me.

You're probably getting tired of seeing this same ole'
centerpiece container.  But, I tell you it just seems to
work with everything.

Everything I used I already had on hand.
A cute faux boxwood bunny for the center....

Some pretty ceramic eggs....

Some pink, silk Hydrangeas and some colorful feathers.
(the cats have had a field day with these feathers, btw)

Some pink cherry blossom stems and smaller crackled
 eggs completed this arrangement.

I added the globes to my vintage candlesticks.

I only had shorter candles, so easy peasy -
I filled the base with moss.  Problem solved!

As an homage to my Farm girl roots, I used simple white
Italian pitchers with white eggs.  I added one on each end of the table.  (my touch of white)  :)

Pink glasses purchased in England, and antique stemware
inherited from The Hubb's grandmother.

I love these glasses.  I originally purchased 18 but sadly
lost half of them when we moved back to the States.

So that's the "bones" of the Tablescape....

Well - bones and a few "oops."
Do you see what I saw once the pictures had been painfully
taken and edited?
Wrong silverware placement!  Yep, I did it!
I so hope the Silverware Placement Police doesn't
show up at my door tonight.  eek!

The Hubb's commented that it was "pretty" albeit a little pink. :)

I envision me and Miss Caitlyn, my future grand baby that
is due in May - setting up a similar table together.
I am happy I will have a granddaughter to pass all of this
"pink" along to.

I will add that although it comes across as a "pink explosion,"
it really is pretty surrounded by the neutral khaki walls and
pulls out the pink and white Staffordshire plates showcased
 on the wall.

My grandson, Roo,  was a big help to me and tested the dishes to make sure they were, indeed, more than pretty but they
were also useful.  :)

By the way, this is what he does when I take a pic.
He says "cheeeeese."

And he insisted (no really he INSISTED!)
that he add his own "stemware" to the Tablescape.
I think its beautiful.

After all is said and done, it made me remember how much I
love to Tablescape.

It also makes me appreciate even more the many beautiful, tablescapes I see in Bloggyland.  Ladies like Yvonne at
Stone Gable , and Michael at Designs by Gollum
and my new friend Shirley at Housepitality Designs -
just to name a few!  Who every week create beautifully
designed Tablescapes, and making it look so easy.

But, its not a matter of simply
throwing a bunch of dishes and glasses on the table.

There is gathering and planning.

And in my case, when the plan doesn't work out -
there is compromising.

And when that doesn't work out, there is Plan C.
Panic.  :)

But, in the end - you simply light the candles, step back -
and hope your camera can tell the story of a Tablescape
that started out as one design - but ended up with
an entirely different look and feel.

And that's okay, too.

I am very happy to be joining
Shirley at Housepitality Designs for
Day 2 of our
Egg-xellent Spring Party.

If you missed Day 1, please hop on over to
A Stroll Thru Life with our sweet Marty -
where she hosted a Spring Cloche Party.

Next Tuesday,  here at Grits and Glamour -
I will be hosting a Mantlescape Party for Day 3.

Remember those Black and White Toile Lamb plates
which were to make their appearance here at this table?
You will see them on my mantle.  :)
So, please join me.

I will also be sharing a wonderful Springtime Recipe
next Friday for Day 4 of our Party.
Join me at Designs by Gollum where Michael

  18. Your table looks beautiful, Barb! I love those pink dishes! I have those chargers, too ~ I forgot all about them for my tablescape. At the time I got mine, Pier 1 only had three left and I bought all three. I sometimes use one for a cloche. Love your floral arrangement. I can't believe that this is a Plan B tablescape; I think it looks great!

  37. Hi Barb, I love it all. It's so pretty in pink. lol! Seriously though, I love the chargers and I don't, (but would love to) own any of those cabbage plates. I do have a darling cabbage bowl and pitcher. Your checked chairs I love also. I have red checked ones at the ends of my table. I really like your more neutral ones. Little man is so cute, and you do know that his stemware fits in perfectly because turquoise is so cute with pink!
