This past weekend, I have put a few finishing touches
on my Easter decor.
The upcoming week will be dedicated to shopping,
baking, cooking and cleaning - all worked in between
my everyday job.
(I am already tired) :)
It hasn't exactly been a good weekend here at
The Grits House.
My son was at the ER where they found out he had
a heart murmur. He also has a clotting condition and I
am concerned the clots are back. He is going to his
regular doctor tomorrow, so please keep him in
your prayers.
Some of the projects I had planned on didn't work out,
but I knew there was one which I just had to make.
Remember this cute Egg Garland I shared with you
a few days ago in my "Easy Ideas for Easter" post?
You can see that post HERE.
Well, due to the generosity of
The Home Depot by offering me their paint chips
for free, I was able to whip this cute little garland right up.
I purchased a clearance package of stick-on lettering
for $1.99 at Michael's. I already had the ribbon in my stash.
I adjusted my style a bit. The one on Pinterest
shows a series of eggs with progressing colors.
I switched mine up by mixing the colors.
After a Facebook chat about 2am this morning,
she gave me the brilliant idea of using cookie
cutters as shapes.
I didn't have cookie cutters, so I just printed and traced
the shape of a bunny and chickie.
My boys love it!
I love how it adds a fun touch of Easter to the breakfast hutch.
Some grocery store tulips were planted in a white pitcher,
and I added just a few springs of silk daffodils, too.
I'll transplants these into the garden after Easter.
They are nestled in a wicker basket filled with some of my
blue and white plates, and a few extra yellow Bordallo
blue and white plates, and a few extra yellow Bordallo
plates with the bunnies.
On the other side of the basket, I added another black and
white Toile plate with a lamb, and another
Bordallo Bunny plate.
A dear friend, who lives in Canada, sent me this precious
bird's nest. I love it.
I added some pastel speckled eggs to a cloche on
a small cake stand. The pastel colors go with the
colors of the garland.
My little, white Target birds have gathered here, as well.
I love that this is a bit out the box for me. I think having
grandbabies in the house makes you look at design
with a whimsical eye at times.
Cole's school is having an Easter Egg Hunt this Thursday,
and the teacher asked that we help decorates their
baskets. I have a few ideas in mind, but I while I was
cutting away for the garland, I made two extra bunnies
for the boy's baskets.
More of the lettering spelled out their names.
I'm actually going to redo Devin's so it says "Roo."
And wouldn't smaller versions of these make cute
placecards at each tablesetting?
I am going to use the egg shapes on my dessert and beverage
buffets to mark the different dishes.
So - once again, thank you Pinterest for the Inspiration.
Thank you Home Depot for the Paint Chips.
I promise I won't take anymore - well,
at least until July 4th. :)
Have a Wonderful Week, My Friends! ~Barb
