Yay or Nay Thursday {#5}

Welcome to another Yay or Nay Thursday.

We sure have enjoyed some interesting conversations, such as Wallpaper or No Wallpaper...

Stainless Steel Appliances or no Stainless.

And one of the most popular Yay or Nay Thursday's was wearing Color Jeans or Not.

The results of this very "official poll" was about half and half.  Some loved them and had alreayd purchased a pair or two, while others decided to leave the pastel tones and colors in an Easter Basket. :)

This week, I thought we would journey to the kitchen.  Now I realize that this question may be more about having space and not having space... but its also about aesthetics and whether you like the look or not.

Pot Racks.   Yay or Nay?

I love the look of Pot Racks.  Especially in French Farmhouse Kitchens, laden with vintage and gleaming Copper Pots.

Even in newer kitchens, pot racks filled with cookery makes a statement.

But pot racks are not just to make a kitchen pretty, in my own case - it is essential since I have so much cookware and utensils and such.

Here is the pot rack that currently hangs in my kitchen.  This picture is from the  2012 Christmas

I will soon be changing out my pot rack in the next few weeks.  The one shown here reflected the French Country style my kitchen used to reflect.  I want some a little more Farmhouse.

Here are some unusual Pot Racks...

How about this Coat Rack Pot Rack?

Now its your turn to weigh in.

Do you love the look of a POt Rack filled with pots and pans and cooking utensils -

... or is it a look that is too busy and unorganized and makes you cringe when you see it?

I can't wait to hear all of your opinions.

Before you start.... here are just a few words from our Sponsor...

Yay.  Or Nay.

  1. I love my pot rack which is absolutely essential in my cupboard space challenged kitchen! Mine hangs from the wall which is not ideal but I have exposed beams in the kitchen and nothing lined up over the island so that I could hang something there. My pet peeve with pot racks is seeing one with greasy, dust coated pots. Ick!!

  3. I love pot racks IF the ceiling is high and it doesn't feel like it's all in your face. The pots and usable items look pretty up there to me.

  4. Well...it depends. How's that for a wishy-washy opinion?!?!? I think that I like the look of them most of the time, but I don't want one for myself. Mainly because I don't cook often enough to keep all of the pots and pans from getting dusty. Plus, I'm one of those people who has to keep my work space pretty cleared off. Everything else around me can be (and is) in chaos though!

  5. I love a beautiful pot rack filled with all the the most useful items in a kitchen! What unique and beautiful ones you have shared. I wish I had the kitchen style for one, but I'll patiently wait until we can make it work. I look forward to seeing what you change with your own rack!

  7. I am going to have to say Yay on pot racks, but Nay, they're not for me! I love all your photos and the unique ones you have featured and they look great, but I have to agree with Suzan, hard to keep everything clean and sparkly, and so gross if they're not. I know I would never keep up, and I am sort of a minimalist anyway so Nay, no pot racks for me! I look forward to seeing your new one!

  9. I like pot racks, and the simple lines of the onei our kitchen, that hangs over our island and stove top, but I'd be just as happy with the open space, if it wasn't there. I love light fixtures over islands much more. It depends on what will work, since you don't want fabric shades hanging over a stove top, picking up all the oils in the food you cook. If you have a pot rack, I think it's important to have big, beautiful pots and not a lot of clutter. As you can see, I've given this a lot of thought, because I'd love to go rack-less. Mr. Wonderful doesn't agree, so there you go! Change is always fun, so we'll be waiting patiently to see what you end up with!

  10. I love pot racks! That said they can't be just anywhere. I would love one simply because I have a lot of pots. I also have a chandelier hanging nearby which would make the space look cluttered! So you see I guess I have to vote Yay and Nay! I enjoy this series and the comments.

  11. Barb, I love it in the right setting. I have seen those that are added as a statement and they don't fit the kitchen feel/look at all. I love yours and I think it is perfect for your kitchen...even if you are going to switch it out. xo Diana

  15. I have a yay and nay here! LOL I grew up with my mother having one and while it fit her country kitchen to the tee, there were aspects of it that to me was a pain in the bum. Like...If your children wash dishes, you better hope they can make those pans sparkle and shine or you will have water spotted pans hanging in everyone's view. lol If you are using all those pans, hanging them back up can be tricky as well if you don't keep the weight even. haha BUT! All that being said. I do love the look of them. Its not "my" style. I do love the copper look and I think it adds its own flavor to a space!!
