My son and Daughter-in-law brought home the school supply list for my soon-to-be 3d grade grandson.
I almost went into a mini-shock.
As I skimmed the list, I couldn’t help but think that when I was his age,
my Mama had to buy had a box of Eight Crayons (the fat ones), a bottle of Elmer’s glue and a pencil pack.
I don’t think I even had a backpack until I was in Junior High.
Now, they request everything BUT the kitchen sink.
Wait, what’s that is small letters at the bottom of the list?
Ohhhh. Wait! It says:
(1) Kitchen Sink.
Nevermind.
😀
So, if you are like me – a few spare bucks would come in handy for those school supplies.
A group of 30 Bloggers have donated $20 bucks each to have this fantastic

As a homeschool mom of six the school shopping is never really done since I buy everything from the crayons to the curriculum! I’d probably spend it on painting supplies for our art projects. Or more books. Or both. 🙂

Recognizing that there are so many more deserving people, I still would love to bless my son who is away in his second year of college with the Paypal cash to buy all the books he needs for the coming semester. I know it’s hard for him to ask us for the money and his college job just can’t cover it all so it would just be lovely to give him good news like this.

I would put it toward a new home computer for the kiddos….ours went on the blink a few months ago. Thanks so much for the great giveaway!!
View Commentmemaw0624 says
Wow, Isn’t this crazy stuff. We went to school with a ruler, sissors, 2 pencils, crayons, glue and we added paper as we ran out..I might add I think I used the sames ones for years …When my kids went to school they needed a $150.00 calculator for one class, special notebooks and papers for each class, plus pens, markers and on and on (and they didn’t learn math equations or any of the historical quotes). Now our littlest ones will not learn how to write in cursive, but they still need all that fancy paper and notebooks to PRINT and draw in LOL…..I would love to be able to use the money to start homeschooling my grands and the children in our village (YES in the USA, we still have villages of our own) so that they actually know somethings when they get old enought to do something. It is amazing that we have fallen to lower than some of the 3rd world countries in the education of our young…..Not that I am against helping others but I always learned that Charity begins at home….We spend our time and money teaching other countries to read and live better than we do our own.

The reason we have to pay for all the school supplies is because our tax dollars are used to pay the pensions of the teachers who can retire at 55 if they have put in their 30 years.
