Fall Decor.
In August? Well, I get it that it’s still 90+ degrees in some areas of the
country. And “Fall” is officially still a few months away. So I am not
talking about an all-out pumpkin and sweater fest. I am talking about
getting your ideas and your mind wrapped around the idea of adding some
simple Fall elements that will transition you from one season to another.
Here are a few ideas…
5 Ways to Jump-start Your Fall Decor
1.) Start Collecting Twigs
I love twigs. I love their texture and their color and their shape.
I think twigs are indicative of Fall and Winter. We live on almost
five acres of land surrounded by lots of woods. So twigs are never an issue
here at The Everyday Home. But, if you don’t live where twigs are
ample, start thinking of nearby places where you can gather some varieties
and lengths of twigs and sticks. I used some taller twigs to make these

2.) Gather Moss and Lichen
I realized a few years ago that I had a fetish for anything moss.
And the word “lichen” gets my heart racing. 😀
Now is the perfect time to sit down and craft some of these easy
DIY Moss and Lichen Balls. I collected various types of mosses,
grapevine balls and even cut strips of burlap (another Fall element)
to create these, and then added lichen-covered twigs and finally a
bird’s nest to a simple white tray.

3.) Fall Recipes
We are soup people. We eat soup almost year-round. But when
the weather cools, we really consume a lot of soups and stews, too.
This Easy and Creamy Potato Soup Recipe is one of our faves.
I love to get out our individual serving size soup crocks and add some
crusty bread and homemade Crockpot Pumpkin Butter.

4.) Transitional Flower Arrangements
Buy your pumpkins now??? Huh? Well, yes, as crazy as it sounds.
I am talking about CRAFT pumpkins. They are plentiful right now, and
as crazy as it sounds, when Fall truly rolls around, you will only be able
to find Christmas stuff. So as silly as it seems to be walking around Michael’s
with craft pumpkins in your cart, get them while you can.
I love the white Casper craft pumpkins. Last year, I made a beautiful
Fall Pumpkin Succulent Planter.
You can also make my House Number Planter, too.

5.) Mason Jars
Anytime is a great time to gather Mason Jars, but during the Fall, there are so
many incredible crafts and recipes you can make with them. Such as my
Spiced Apple-Walnut Bread in Mason Jars. *THE* most incredibly tasty
and moist bread you will ever try.
And if you’re looking for some Craft Ideas to use with all of your collected
Mason Jars, here are 20+ Fall Themed Mason Jar Crafts.
So yes, Fall may be a ways off yet – but start preparing now so you will
be ready when Autumn rolls around for real. Because you would
not want to “Fall” behind on your decor now would you? 😀
